I took pictures of my friends at Honoli'i Beach. We made the most of this location, using the length of the beach, some stairs, and a bridge. The sun was pretty harsh during our session, but the shadows provided great opportunities to try different things.
My friend was kind enough to allow me to take pictures of her. We went to various locations and had to dodge the rain as a storm was passing by. She was such a good sport as I dragged her along to a graveyard, a pile of logs, a run-down shack, and then finally back to her house. It was alot of fun to snap her, she let me do whatever I want although she drew the line when I asked her to sit in a place where mosquitoes were buzzing all around. They loved her but didn't come near me at all. I thought the shoot went pretty well.
I took pictures this past Sunday of Jeryd & Leilani - first we went to Hilo Bay Front and hammed it up on the beach, then headed over to downtown Hilo and had a blast walking in and out of alleys and wandering into mysterious doorways. You can tell J&L really enjoy being in each other's company and I think that shows in the pictures.
Mikaila & Kalehua - my two cousins whom I have photographed many times before. They are used to my constantly-snapping, direction-fumbling ways. It was so much fun to shoot them.
Whenever I want to practice my photography, I can always count on my two cousins, my brother's girlfriend and my niece to accommadate me. Today we went out to the park and then to get some shaved ice. All the while I took pictures as we chatted and laughed (well, they laughed. If I had laughed, I would have missed some great shots.) The first set is of Malu & Kawehena:
I like to take candid pictures of people. Only then, can one capture the personality and character of the person... in the unguarded moments, when one feels like oneself, relaxed and comfortable.
In my opinion, people are the most beautiful subjects to take pictures of... they are so complex and that comes across in the most simplest of pictures.
